Our Project

Enlighten Project is a volunteering project established to accomplish our university course, Social Engagement (GIG 1005) offered by University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This course aims to instill awareness among the students to be socially responsible and morally righteous towards the society. We're allowed to collaborate with any organisation to conduct any activity that can improve the well-being of the society.

We are required to fulfill 40 credit hours for the course, which includes
10 hours of preparation and discussions
30 hours of practical
40 hours in total
As an outcome of our several meetings with the team members and the non-profit organisations, we had tentatively arranged this social engagement program with Malaysia Association for The Welfare of Mentally Challenged Children, IQ70+ and Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology Students(In collaboration with Hemophilia Society of Malaysia).
IQ70+, a home for mentally challenged children , has been in existence since 27 March 2012 to help children with mental disabilities and endeavors in building a safe and open living space to offer the children the superior conditions for healthy psychological growth.. IQ70+ started as a result of the embracement of love and responsibility towards mentally challenged children, located at Jalan Gasing, Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur.

We expect ourselves to achieve the following objectives through the volunteering project in collaboration with Shelter Homes:
  1. To engage with the less fortunate groups in the society.
  2. To practice about our social responsibilities towards the society.
  3. To love and care for the children in the homes.
  4. To inculcate better soft skills among the children and among our members itself.
  5. To encourage teamwork and cooperation between the our members.
In an effort to ensure that our objectives will be achieved, we will be conducting several activities for our members to engage with the children. These activities include and are not limited to:
  • Singing and dancing
  • Mural Drawing
  • Arts Activities
  • Weeding
And many more exciting ones which are able to allow the children to have fun and at the same time, make a positive change in them! :D

The Hemophilia Society of Malaysia (HSM) is a non-profit organizaiton working to provide and improve treatment for people with hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders. It is a member of the World Federation of Hemophilia.

Hemophilia is a bleeding problem that causes the inability to clot the blood when bleeding. Their blood does not have enough clotting factor, a protein in blood that controls bleeding. People with severe hemophilia usually bleed frequetly into their muscles or joints. They may bleed one to two times per week. Bleeding is often spontaneous, which means it happens for no obvious reason. Without treatment, most children with severe hemophilia will die young. An estimated 400,000 people worldwide are living with hemophilia and only 25% receive adequate treatment.

Students of Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology has collaborate with HSM to organize World Hemophilia Day 2016 in University of Malaya. The main activities for that event of Blood Donation Day and Zombie Escape, hosted by the students. The objectives of this event is to help hemophiliac victims to get adequate treatment and to educate the public about the experience of people who suffered from Hemophilia.

Our team has volunteered ourself to give our hand of help in order to make their event successful. We hope by joining this event, we can contribute something directly or indirectly to the society, and gain something useful to ourself regarding hemophilia.
